Thank you so much for the responses. The internet and this blog has reconnected me with a lot of people I have not talked to in a very long time. The last few days have been packed with doctors appointments and work in anticipation of next week. I check into the hospital on monday morning for my first session of chemo. If everything goes well I get to come home the following Saturday. Suzann will then have 3 children she will be taking care of.
Yesterday, some friends took me out to lunch and gifts were exchanged. One of the gifts were some professional hair clippers - a good friend and fellow cancer survivor "passed them on" to me. I will try and get some before and after pictures - if I can talk my kids into in we will have a head shaving event on Easter Sunday.
Thank you to everybody who has signed up and contributed to the blog - it really means a lot to me and my family.
Hank.
Hank,
ReplyDeleteI recently exchanged emails with Bob Duyn in which I voiced concern over my daughter seriously considering University of Portland. My concern was based on the fact that there are numerous male progeny of many of my college friends in the wider Portland area.
He mentioned you had cancer. Mike Deneffe sent blog link. I want to let you know my prayers are with and your family. The personal character traits you mentioned brought a smile to my face. Those will serve you well as you enter into chemotherapy. I wish you the best.
I must admit I shared a few Hank Murphy stories with my son (I played down or didn't mention any role I played). I then also shared how we spent many hours in the library and numerous hours on Charles Graham Community Service events.
I will stay in touch, All the Best!

Hank,
ReplyDeleteOK now that Mike has said that clean Hank Murphy stories are acceptable...I must admit than when you mentioned in your first bolg that you would be "tethered" for a five days at a stretch it reminded me a that poor Pac Bell employee that I walked past on Park Ave. everday as I ventured to my classes on campus. It seemed someone had run over the circuit "hub" box and pulled telephone wires every which way as they stretched down the block. He was "tethered" to that box for what seemed to be a couple of weeks! - Kelleher
